The Dominican Republic differs from many of the Caribbean countries due to is Historical and cultured past. The Native people of Hispaniola were the “Tainos” People, Research has shown that the Tanios tribes have situated the island of Hispaniola from as early Circa A.D 650.
The Native people thrived on the island, they learn’t to become expert fishermen and knowledgeable farmers taking advantage of their rich surroundings. The Tianos divided the Dominican Republic into 5 sections each under rule of its high chief. In 1492 a fleet of Spanish galleons discovered the new world shores of “the Dominican republic”, the Spanish and the Tainos people integrated in and peaceful manner and lived beside one another in harmony for hundreds of years. Disaster struck the Native tribes, as the alien travellers accidently bought “Small Pox” with them which wiped out many of the native Tainos people. The Tainos blood line still runs though many Dominicans veins with the last Surviving pure blooded Tainos dyeing in 1864. Under Spanish rule the Dominican Republic was primarily used for farming and mining which bought the much profitable slave trade with it. The western coast of Hispaniola (Hiati) had been explored the French who had civilised the area and claimed the land for themselves.
In today’s world the Dominican republic still shows many signs of its past culture with the national tongue being Spanish, the Dominican republic is situated in the Caribbean which bought many other Caribbean cultures and different people together. Because of the country’s geographical location the Sun is always shinning and the temperature is always hot making it a paradise destination for holiday makers and loved up honeymooners alike. The Caribbean’s Primary source of income is tourism the Dominican Republic pushes it’s Tourism market extensively attracting thousands of people to takeDominican Republic Holidays every year.
